New Hallway in a Day!
It’s time for a hallway redo! I wanted to make this area bright. Mainly because there are no windows in the hallway, if my daughters have their doors closed it’s pitch black. Hello walking blind into walls, plenty of stubbed toes, and no running to the bathroom at night! The side be side is a before and after. Plus I have the same outfit so you can really see the difference.
What you’ll need:
Peel and stick wallpaper of choice
Plastic scraper
X-acto knife
Optional: paint SW classic white
Paint prior to attaching wallpaper
I used a little over 4 rolls of HaokHome wallpaper to cover the hallway ceiling. You should start in the corner. Pull/ overlap the paper on each side on the wall. Refer to video. Smooth the wallpaper as you unroll it. This will prevent air bubbles. If you do have air bubbles you can, put a small hole in the bubble and use scraper to smooth it out. Or use a hair dryer and smooth out the bubble. Either method will get the bubble out. Remember when applying the paper Do Not Stretch It! Let me say that again Don’t Pull It! It will look trash if you pull or stretch the wallpaper. So you have the first row in! Let’s move to the next line. Move the paper up as close as possible, leave 1/4 inch of overhang.
You are doing this bc your walls aren’t completely rectangular or square. Remove the backing as you move down or up the wall. If you have a light fixture, you will need to start on opposite ends and meet in the middle. Just cut around the fixture. -Refer to video. Or simply remove the fixture. Alrighty, so everything is up now you can use the X-acto knife to trim off excess wall paper. There you have it, a new space in a day!
Why did I go with ceiling and not the walls? It’s simple Kirstin and Krista share this hallway and they were not impressed. They vetoed me! Also it makes the hallway appear so much bigger. Your eyes are automatically drawn to the ceiling.
